Roles

This year I will be working with Jess and Sophie who will become the story boarder and script writer; I have been given the role of editor again this year. I am very pleased to be in this group as we got on so well last year. We will each bring our own individual ideas to the group but we will also be happy to listen to each others input. I think if we work together as successfully as we did last year we can produce an amazing piece of film. I look forward to partaking in this course with them. I will try to become a better editor this year by researching on the internet good editing techniques, practising on scrap films and talking to people who also edit to get feedback on my work.
Other responsibilities I have within the group are to arrange the location of filming and the travel to and from.

Brief

My name is Jazelle and I am currently studying A-level Media. I am very excited about this course as it allows me to be creative with my work. I have studied Media before now and have always been interested in the film industry. I am hoping to achieve an A grade by the end of my 2 year course.

The film I created as a group last year (whilst working with Jess and Sophie) was inspired by a high school musical, in which a ‘geeky’ girl attends a new school. The entire opening of the film was performed to music by ‘Kesha’ and there was no dialogue throughout. Our opening introduced all the main characters and told the basic set up of the film all in 2 minutes.

I was the editor of this film and I very much enjoyed timing the edits with the music we chose. There was also a wide range of edit options and I had the chance to be very creative with my choices. Although the editing process was difficult and time consuming, I enjoy aiming towards the final product and I was very proud of our finished text. I believed I did a good job editing our film and would like to try it again this year to develop my editing skills.
